A visit to the University of Southeastern Philippines

On December 11, 2023, Dr Terese Venus and Nymphmary Daphne Santiago paid a courtesy call at the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City with the President, Dr Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr., the team of the International Affairs Division, and the College of Applied Economics led by Dr Roperto S. Deluna, Jr. Dr Terese Venus presented at the College of Applied Economics Socioeconomic Research and Data Analytics Center's Academic, Research and International Societal Exchange (ARISE) lecture series.

The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) is a regional state university created in 1978 and located in Davao City in Mindanao. The university is committed to fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development through continuous innovation in proactive academic programs, impactful research for utilization, economically empowering community services, and sustainable resource management. USEP’s research extends beyond Davao Region but also covering neighboring regions.

Under the current agreement, the two universities will work until 2028. This collaboration will focus on joint research activities, publications, and exchange of knowledge through guest lectures, conferences, research seminars, and a summer school in bioeconomy.

Aside from the courtesy call, Dr. Venus conducted a lecture on bioeconomy and climate change economics with the faculty, staff and students of the College of Applied Economics in attendance. It is part of USeP’s international lecture series called ARISE, or the Academic, Research, and International Societal Change, where researchers can present their studies on economics and environment.
