Daphne Santiago presented at the colloquium from the chair of Critical Development Studies at the University of Passau (06.06.2024)

Daphne Santiago presented her initial research findings at the Southeast Asia Research Colloquium at the University of Passau on June 6, 2024. Her presentation centered around her key initial findings from her first qualitative fieldwork conducted in the Philippines from December 2023 to January 2024. Her qualitative research focuses on the bioeconomy transition in agricultural value chains in the Philippines using a coevolutionary framework. It includes the identification of bioeconomy activities related to residue valorization, assessing interactions with different systems within the coevolutionary framework, and the potential impacts of these activities on rural areas in the Philippines. This qualitative research serves as the basis for further studies to be developed within the ReValueD Project.

Following the presentation, there was an engaging discussion with students from the MA in Development Studies program at UniPassau. The session also featured insightful feedback and interesting questions from the professors.
